Creating a library full of inspiring video frames and GIFs can be a tedious task. The traditional methods of taking screenshots or producing GIFs are often time-consuming and complex. That's where Kive steps in with its seamless solution: Extract from Video.

Extract from Video is a powerful tool that lets you derive still images and GIFs from videos. All you need is a video link or a video file to get started. Here's how to use it:

Extracting from video via links

  1. Locate your favorite video on platforms like Vimeo or YouTube.

  2. Copy the video URL.

  3. Go back to Kive and click on the "Extract from video" button, located in the sidebar on your workspace's left.

  4. Paste your copied URL into the provided text field.

  5. Choose your output type: "Stills" or "GIFs".

  6. If you wish, you can add your extracts to a specific board by clicking on "Select board".

  7. Click "Start frame extract" to begin the process.

You can find your extractions under the "Items", or in the specific folder you chose. If you wish to find the entire upload event you can click on "group by" and "upload event" under Items in your Library.

Extracting from video using video files

  1. Click the "Extract from video" button in the workspace sidebar.

  2. Click on "Upload video" button to open your file explorer and select your preferred video file.

  5. Click "Start frame extract" to begin the process.

You can find your extractions under the "Uploads" tab or in the specific folder you chose.

Note: the current video length limits for extraction are 12 minutes for stills and 5 minutes for GIFs.
